If you are planning to drive in Japan this year, we have some important news for you. The Japanese Automobile Federation (JAF) has announced an official price increase for their services, including the official driver’s license translations.
Starting April 1st, 2026, the mandatory fee charged by JAF will rise from 4,000 JPY to 6,000 JPY.
Why is this happening?
This is the first major price adjustment in years. JAF cited rising operational costs and the need to maintain their high-speed processing standards for the increasing number of international tourists visiting Japan.
How does this affect your translation?
As a professional service, we handle the entire application process with JAF for you. Because this 2,000 JPY increase is a mandatory government-adjacent fee, we unfortunately have to adjust our total package prices starting April 1st as well.
Pro-Tip: Order before March 31st and Save!
We want to be fair to our customers. If you already know your travel dates for later in 2026 (even if you’re traveling in summer or autumn), order your translation now.
- Deadline: March 31st, 2026.
- Your Benefit: You pay the current lower rate, and we process your translation before the price jump.
- Validity: Remember, these translations do not expire as long as your original license remains valid!
Summary of the new rates (Starting April 1st):
To keep things transparent, here is how our pricing will change to cover the new JAF fees:
- 7-Eleven Self-Print: 62 EUR (was 49 EUR)
- Hotel Delivery: 78 EUR (was 65 EUR)
- Home Delivery (Standard): 82 EUR (was 69 EUR)
- Home Delivery (Express): 99 EUR (was 87 EUR)
Don’t wait until the last minute. The cherry blossom season is already the busiest time of the year, and we expect a high volume of orders before the price change.
