JAF Translation Printouts: More Convenience at Your Fingertips!

Great news for travelers needing a Japanese translation of their driver’s license! The Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) has recently expanded its partnership, now allowing printouts of official driver’s license translations at a wider range of convenience stores (Konbini) across Japan. This means more options and greater flexibility for you, especially when you need your translation quickly upon arrival.

Expanded Konbini Network for JAF Translations

Previously, JAF translations for self-printout were primarily available at 7-Eleven stores. While 7-Eleven boasts the highest number of outlets nationwide, JAF has now extended this service to include:

  • Lawson

  • FamilyMart

  • Ministop

  • Poplar Group stores (including Poplar, Three Eight, and Seikatsu Saika)

This expansion significantly increases the accessibility of your driver’s license translation, making it easier to pick up your document wherever you are in Japan.

Our Standard Process for Self-Printout Orders

For all customers who choose the self-printout option for their JAF translation, we will continue to provide a 7-Eleven printout code by default. This is because 7-Eleven still has the most widespread presence across Japan, offering the highest chance of finding a convenient location near your accommodation or planned route.

What if Your Airport Doesn’t Have a 7-Eleven?

We understand that immediate access to your translation is crucial, especially if you plan to rent a car right after landing. While airports like Narita and Haneda have a 7-Eleven, some feature other Konbini chains.

If your arrival airport does not have a 7-Eleven but has a Lawson, FamilyMart, Ministop, or Poplar Group store, you now have the option to request a specific code for one of these other Konbini networks! This ensures you can print your translation right at the airport if needed.

How to Request a Specific Konbini Code

If you require a printout code for a Konbini other than 7-Eleven (e.g., for an airport without a 7-Eleven), please indicate this clearly in your order. You can write down your preferred Konbini chain (e.g., “Lawson Code Needed” or “FamilyMart Code Needed“) in the section where you provide your Japanese address (e.g., your hotel address). This will allow us to prepare the correct code for you.
